This method serves to raise awareness of and inform participants about cyber bullying and related concepts such as hate speech, discrimination or prejudices and online behaviour in general. Further, participants learn about human rights / democratic values. Participants gain knowledge on the societal consequences of cyber bullying and become aware of consuming online information responsibly and critically and are able to change perspectives. In addition, they are provided with further information about counselling centres, links etc. for countering cyber bullying. Further, participants reflect on the concept of cyber bullying and get the chance to adjust tor rethink their personal attitudes and experiences towards it. Based on this knowledge, they can make more informed decisions to counter cyber bullying, wich allows them to reassess their personal opinions on the topic. This in turn will broaden their scope for action and give them the possibility to adapt or change their personal at

idea:

This method aims to increase participants' awareness and understanding of the notion "cyber bullying" and the core values and functionings of an informed civil society. By engaging in the activities, participants shall get a feel for what discrimination, hate speech, prejudices and other forms of cyber bullying are and that it is fundamental to have knowledge about its mechanisms and societal consequences. Not only will this activity raise participants' general awareness and understanding of online behaviour, but they will also learn to identify and counter occurrences of hate speech, discrimination or prejudices. 

vision:

Participants shall learn about forms, mechanisms and societal consequences of cyber bullying. The aim is to raise their awareness of responsible and critical online behaviour, which strengthens and fosters an informed civil society.

additional instructions

It is recommended to implement this workshop/reflection unit with groups you already know and have worked with; also it is advised that the participants are familiar with each other and that they have already established a fair amount of trust with each other.
